The greatest gift I received was the day my father placed a camera in my hands. He has passed down his passion & creativity to me at an early age. Living outside of NYC, being the youngest child my parents took me to the theater & museums quite often. While my mother attended college I tagged along in the summer & was exposed to & participated in varied art classes. When I was a young teen I would hop on a train alone (I don't think my parents knew) & visit the museums & study the architecture of the brownstones & buildings. My father would lend me his Pentax 35mm, until he gifted my Russian 35mm, irony had it that it would always freeze up on me during my winter shoots, which would then bring me to my local camera store, where at eighteen I landed a job! I was accepted into a few art schools in NYC studying advertising realizing I had made a mistake & should have studied photography. I needed to be in the city, so I worked for some large art firms. I eventually went back to the Hudson Valley & worked with a wedding photographer in Bronxville NY for the NYSPPA (New York State (President) Professional Photographers Association). Arriving back in Westchester this is where I met my husband. He owned a few retail photo stores & photo labs so it was a perfect marriage. Over thirty years later, having raised successful humans, pets & grandchildren I now travel the country on a quest for the perfect photograph.
If ever you see someone stop every couple of feet walking or making u-turns, yes it is me. You see I can not go on living w/o taking that photograph, studying it, & capturing different angels & studying the lighting of my subject.
Having transitioned from 35mm film SLR to a digital (DSLR) camera, all the while preferring black & white photography, having a photo library of tens of thousands of photographs. I crop my photos as I see fit & very rarely are they tweaked or photoshopped. Having developed film & printed custom prints I have studied all of the photographic mediums, having printed on paper, canvas, & metal. I present some award winning photographs, hoping that they are therapeutic for you, & that you enjoy them bringing a sense of tranquility, health & healing.
